Bethania commissioners adopt resolution to close portion of Queens Grant Road

On April 10, 2025, the Town of Bethania Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt a resolution to close a portion of Queens Grant Road following a public hearing convened by Mayor Brent Rockett.
The resolution of intent was previously adopted in February; at the hearing Attorney Bryant said the town mailed courtesy letters (U.S. and certified mail) to affected property owners, including Dax Allred of Allred Legacy, and informed Stimmel and Pulte Homes. Attorney Bryant noted the certified letter to Allred had not been accepted and said Section 3 of the Resolution calls for the Town to erect a permanent barrier at no expense to property owners.
Mayor Rockett opened the hearing, and after no members of the public offered comment he closed it. Mayor Pro Tem Michelle Leonard moved to adopt the Resolution as written; the motion passed unanimously. After the vote, residents Niki Calhoun and Greg Silva thanked the board and asked about next steps. Mayor Rockett said the town will notify the Forsyth County Tax Office, arrange for a new survey of Queens Grant Road and work with homeowners on barrier or signage placement at the road end.
Bethania resident Tom Dixon reported hearing "rumblings" of a potential stub road to a new development using Bear Creek Road; Mayor Rockett said any plan changes would require a permitting review and advised commissioners to watch Planning Board agendas. Town counsel Attorney Dovel reminded the Board there is a 30-day aggrievement period during which appeals to the procedural aspects of the closure can be filed.
The board took the formal vote to adopt the Resolution and provided the next procedural steps: notification to county officials, a survey, and coordination with affected homeowners on barrier/signage. No appeals were recorded in the minutes.
