Bethel approves debris pickup contract, OKs Rivers' extra work for PARTF grant

The Bethel Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to award the residential vegetative debris pickup contract to C and W Lawn Care Services for $36,000 per year and amended the motion to make the contract retroactive to March 1.
Town Manager presented the RFP results and explained the scope: the contract covers vegetative debris (limbs, trimmings) but not furniture or appliances; residents will still use county convenience sites for bulky items. Under the contract C and W will serve the town twice monthly (first and third Mondays) and weekly during winter months. The board said staff will post limitations (maximum diameter/length) on the town website and Facebook page.
Separately, Rivers Associates requested $7,762.50 for additional mapping and attachments needed to submit a Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) grant application to fund Smith Street Park work. The board approved the expenditure so Rivers can prepare the grant materials before the application deadline.
Other routine actions recorded at the meeting included continuing the town filing fee at $10 for mayor and commissioner candidates and the board's prior action to proceed with sale of two town parcels after an upset-bid period produced no offers.
The motions were carried unanimously in each recorded vote.
