Bethania commissioners agree to research hiring a town manager, seek facilitators

At the Sept. 5 meeting the Town of Bethania Board of Commissioners agreed to revisit the idea of hiring a town manager, an item previously discussed during the budget working session.
Commissioner Tom Beroth suggested resuming consideration of a town manager role. Commissioner Kenneth Wolff said the board should formulate a vision before drafting a job description, and Commissioner Johanna Brown recommended the future manager be included in strategic planning discussions. Commissioners agreed to research similar municipalities and possible facilitators; Mayor Brent Rockett will reach out to the UNC School of Government and Commissioner Wolff will contact PTRC for referrals or guidance.
No formal motion to hire or fund a town manager was made on Sept. 5; the board instructed staff and commissioners to gather information to inform potential next steps.
