Maiden Rock board declines to fund dust control this year; selects Chippewa Valley Energy for summer fuel

Resident concerns about road dust and routine maintenance dominated the operational portion of the Town of Maiden Rock board meeting on June 16, 2025.
At public comment, resident Dan Ellenberger requested the township cover dust-control costs for the roads. Chairman Jerry F. Duden told attendees that the township will not assume the expense this year but will review the matter for next year. The board noted that Luhman's Construction has submitted dust-control applications and that applications are available for residents who wish to participate.
Board members discussed road maintenance items including ongoing grading and ditch cleanup, a bent sign at the intersection of 50th and 250th, and a blown valve stem on the town’s John Deere, which Clare repaired. Mark Larson agreed to provide part-time blading for the township. The board confirmed planned rocking work this year on 78th Street near M. Collett and on 100th Ave near D. Iverson.
On procurement, the board reviewed two summer fuel bids: Alcivia at $2.53 per gallon and Chippewa Valley Energy at $2.519 per gallon. The board agreed to remain with Chippewa Valley Energy. A separate parking-lot blade-patching bid was noted as needing confirmation of status; no award was recorded.
Other administrative items included a report that Swift Current service was connected May 28 for internet and phone service and that spam emails impersonating Chairman Duden had been received and noted by the clerk. The board set Planning Commission business and OOSC items for the next month’s agenda and adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
