Ironton City Council approves recreation services contract, budget correction and electronic payments agreement; moves to executive session

A motion to suspend the rules for immediate consideration carried, and the council adopted the ordinance by roll call. The chair declared ordinance 26-39 adopted.
Council also amended and adopted ordinance 26-40 to correct the fund placement for a NatureWorks reimbursement grant that had been recorded in the wrong fund. The amendment moved the grant to the appropriate fund and was declared an emergency measure for the year ending Dec. 31, 2026. Council recorded a favorable finance recommendation before suspending rules and adopting the amended ordinance.
In a separate vote the council adopted ordinance 26-36, allowing the city to enter an electronic payments/merchant agreement to support billing and merchant services.
After the votes, the chair moved the meeting into executive session to discuss collective bargaining; the chair said no action would follow and listed expected attendees (finance director, mayor, council and solicitor). The meeting went into closed session thereafter.
The council handled nominations to boards earlier in the meeting, including appointments to the tax review board and the civil service commission. Several nominees were named and council recorded roll-call approvals during the meeting.
What happens next: the contracts and ordinance amendments approved will proceed according to their terms; the council did not take further public action before entering executive session.
