Chera Cole asked the Troy City Council whether the city intends to charge for park use during the Fourth of July celebration. Mike Lidgett, who reported on behalf of the Chamber, said the Chamber plans four events (the Fourth of July and three music shows), that the Chamber currently pays costs tied to staging those events, and requested a waiver of park fees for the first year so the group can determine whether the events are profitable.
Lidgett said the Chamber raised electricity fees and that those fees will be given back to the city. Mayor TJ Boswell said he would review outcomes after the Loco Locals event before deciding whether to grant a waiver.
The council did not take a vote or formally grant a fee waiver at the March 3 work meeting; the matter will be revisited as the events proceed.
