Rasbell said the modified assurances remove the most problematic references to challenged executive orders but still contain "vague references to executive orders and dear colleague letters," so counsel recommended the district execute the modified version and include the cover letter as clarification for the state grants manager.
Board members asked whether chair signature alone suffices and whether the board should take extra time to read the revisions before the June 1 upload deadline. Rasbell and counsel recommended chair approval where time is constrained, but several members said they would prefer additional review; administrators agreed to sit down with board members to review the documents.
The item remained a discussion at the meeting; administrators noted the deadline to upload executed assurances is June 1 and that earlier signings by other SAU boards would stand as submitted.
