The Fremont City Council on April 14 approved a staff recommendation to award a major overhaul inspection of the Unit 7 turbine and generator at the Laundy Wright Generating Station to HPI for $591,604.64.
Utility Manager Jeff Shanahan explained the inspection is part of a recurring major overhaul performed approximately every 40,000 operating hours on base‑load units. “We received four bids during that opening, and HPI was the lowest bidder. Staff is recommending that we award HPI the contract,” Shanahan said. He noted the work is scheduled for fall 2026 and will likely span fiscal years.
With no public comment, the council approved the contract award by unanimous vote (motion carried 8–0). Shanahan and council members said the overhaul is routine and necessary to maintain reliable generator operations.
