Marion School Board thanks voters and begins planning after referendum; enrollment rises to 505

School Board President John Schwartz thanked voters for supporting the recent referendum as the Marion School District moves into a planning phase for projects approved by voters.

Administration told the board that the next step is a planning and design meeting with Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction on Nov. 20 to begin translating referendum approvals into project plans. Troy Edwards said the administration has an engagement plan draft and will begin stakeholder outreach as design work starts.

District business manager Nathan Papendorf reported that the districthas crossed the 500-student threshold: "We have crossed the 500 barrier for student count. With new enrollments over the last two weeks, we now have 505 students enrolled," he told the board. Papendorf also said district staff completed referendum documentation and resubmitted the updated Tax Levy report to the Department of Public Instruction to reflect the referendum results.

Papendorf reminded trustees of upcoming state data and reporting deadlines: the WISEdata student snapshot is scheduled for Dec. 10 and the WISEdata finance budget report is due Dec. 5. He said offices are actively performing data verification and validation ahead of those dates.

Edwards and Papendorf presented these items as administrative updates; the board took no separate vote on project design at the Nov. 11 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
