Marion board approves hires, donation, handbooks and student transportation contracts; accepts administrator evaluation after closed session

The Marion School District board took several routine business actions at its July 22 meeting.
Personnel: Bruce Zillmer moved, and Dawn Papendorf seconded, to approve a resignation and hire two new staff members: Renee Rickert-Smith as a high school special-education instructor and Danielle Ewald as the district school nurse. The motion carried, according to the minutes.
Donations and handbooks: Tiffany Krueger moved to accept a $5,005 donation from Glen Cairn Golf Course; the minutes allocate $1,000 to the golf program and $4,005 to the football program. Bruce Zillmer moved to approve changes to the 2024-25 student handbooks; Melissa Stuhr seconded and the motion carried.
Contracts: The board approved the 2024-25 parent transportation contracts for private school pupils on a motion by Tiffany Krueger, seconded by George Graper.
Closed session and evaluation: John Schwartz moved the board into closed session at 7:19 p.m. under Wis. Stat. 19.85(1)(c) to consider district personnel matters; the minutes record a 9-0 roll-call vote to enter closed session. The board returned to open session at 9:31 p.m., and later accepted the District Administrator's evaluation on a motion by Melissa Stuhr and a second from Lynn Tober-Steinke. The meeting adjourned at 9:37 p.m.
