At the Jan. 9 meeting the City of Marinette Board of Harbor Commission discussed volunteer and maintenance activities related to local habitat structures.
Commissioners debated whether to combine a spring wildlife inventory with a nesting-structure inspection and clean-up. They also discussed keeping the bird walk and the inspection/clean-up as separate events to allow focused attention on both wildlife observation and maintenance. No motions were made on the scheduling or format of these events.
On the subject of habitat-structure upkeep, commissioners discussed LMRAOC habitat structures and agreed that a shared Google document would be created so members could update maintenance notes and track structure status. The commission did not take formal action to adopt a maintenance schedule or assign responsibility at the meeting.
The topics will be revisited at a future meeting; commissioners tentatively scheduled the next session for Feb. 13, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
