Knob Noster aldermen announce fall events, note potholes and stalled rail-spur effort

A series of community events and local infrastructure issues were highlighted at the Knob Noster Board of Aldermen meeting on Sept. 16, 2025.
Alderman Palmer reminded attendees that Movie Night at the park, showing The Sandlot, is scheduled for Sept. 27, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. Mayor Byerly announced an Open-Air Market for Sept. 20, 2025, and said Drew's Bike Shop will host a bike rodeo on Sept. 27 at the Baptist Church parking lot. The Fall Festival downtown is set for Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Chief Van Vickle reported the Knob Noster High School (KNHS) Homecoming parade will be Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, at 2:30 p.m.
On infrastructure, Alderman Thering called attention to potholes on Allen Street in front of and beside Tequila Jalisco Mexican Restaurant. Alderman Smith said a MoDOT repair on south Route J had buckled and needs additional repair. Alderman Stauffer-Baum said he has reached a dead end in attempting to acquire a rail spur from the Department of Defense to connect the Spirit Trail downtown and said he hopes the Spirit Trails Coalition will have more luck obtaining the rights to the spur.
Fire Chief Rick Johnson told the board hose testing for the department is scheduled for Nov. 15, 2025, and said the Fire Department received $4,640 from Hero Fund USA for a half set of bunker gear. The minutes record no public comments during the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a proclamation honoring Garret Carter for his service as mayor, presented by Mayor Byerly, and adjourned at 6:24 p.m.
