The Durand City Council approved Pay Request #2 for McCabe Construction Inc. in the amount of $415,228.28 for the Madison Street project on June 10.
Council Member Matt Roesler moved to approve the payment, Robert Weishapple seconded, and a roll call vote recorded six ayes and zero nays. Public comment was not recorded on the payment itself. Public Works Director Matt Gilles later reported that Madison Street construction work has progressed to the stretch from 2nd Avenue E to 8th Avenue E and that staff expect a future change order because a manhole on 5th Avenue between Madison and Main Street has deteriorated.
The payment represents routine progress billing to the city’s contractor; the council did not amend project scope during the meeting. The city is investigating investment options for funds tied to the Madison Street project, according to the administrator’s report.
