At its Jan. 13 meeting the City of Markesan Common Council adopted the 2026 fee schedule, approved equipment purchases and several licenses, and recorded the failure of an attempt to overturn a mayoral veto.
The council voted 6-0 to adopt the new fee schedule effective Jan. 13, 2026. It approved purchase of two block bearings for the sewer plant at $2,256.09 each (motion Abendroth/Lager carried 6-0). The council also approved Operator’s Licenses expiring June 30, 2026, for Allison Bartz, Joan Lohry and Irene Sieglaff, with a stipulation that future applications be completed fully (motion Prill/Kazda carried 6-0).
An earlier motion to overturn the mayor’s veto of the Remote Work Policy (Prill/Kazda) failed on a tied 3-3 roll call; the minutes record Ald. Lager, Ald. Thiem and Ald. Triemstra as voting Nay. The record does not list further action on the policy.
Council scheduled upcoming meetings (Board of Zoning Appeals Jan. 14; Finance Committee COW Jan. 20; committee meetings Feb. 3; Common Council Feb. 10) and adjourned at 7:41 p.m.
