The board, led by President Kevin Goebel, voted unanimously on a series of procedural motions: approving the March 17 minutes, accepting the treasurer’s report, authorizing payment of bills, approving temporary borrowing, and granting licenses as presented. Each motion was carried without dissent.
In one substantive change to how the village accepts payments, Trustee Henry Guell moved and Trustee Matt Bonen seconded a measure to add online credit-card payments for property taxes and sewer bills; the board approved the change unanimously. Board members said the option will make it easier for residents to pay taxes and sewer fees online; staff will next implement the payment portal and report back on any fees or provider details.
The board discussed several public-works and parks items. Ed Costello provided a quote for playground surfacing—about 94 cubic yards of wood chips for $2,115.00—and members agreed to work with a contractor listed in the transcript as "EJaa" to complete the work. Trustees also approved adding gravel by the burn pile at the sewer plant (motion by Henry Guell, seconded by Shea Stahl), and they noted that a curb by an area listed in the minutes as "Scuds" was struck by a plow during the last snowstorm and will be investigated for repair.
On administrative timelines, the board discussed that because this is a reevaluation year and the assessment rolls are not completed, the Board of Review will meet May 19, 2026, before the monthly board meeting and then adjourn until September. Trustee Henry Guell said further assessment-related scheduling depends on completion of the rolls.
Other updates: the Oakfield postmaster has approved the idea of installing a cluster mailbox on Pine Street; the board will research concrete-slab costs next spring. Trustee Henry Guell reported he has begun looking into a potential chicken ordinance but said additional research is required before the board takes any formal steps.
