Eden board hears meat market land proposal, approves routine business

The Village of Eden Board met Jan. 20, 2026, and heard a presentation about a possible land purchase that would allow Eden meat market to add a skinning room while approving routine business items.

Mike Hermann, Cal Hermann and Ann Geiger presented a proposal that Eden meat market consider purchasing property from CAMP storage to accommodate a skinning room addition. The presenters said CAMP storage would need to install a separate driveway off Jennifer Lane to accommodate changes and that the purchase and site changes would require documentation to be reviewed by the Planning Commission before final approval by the Village Board.

The presentation did not include a final agreement or timetable; board members did not vote on the land sale at this meeting. The board discussed the CSM for the Handle property but decided to table approval of the Handle CSM until the next meeting.

On routine business, the board approved the Dec. 16, 2025 minutes, the treasurer's report, payment of bills and a temporary borrowing resolution. The board also approved the building inspection report and licenses as presented. Separately, the board approved the annual Computer Troubleshooters contract and named election inspectors for 2026'2027. All recorded motions in the transcript carried unanimously.

Under updates, the board recorded that the Oakfield postmaster approved placing a cluster mailbox on Pine Street and that the board will revisit that option next spring. Board member Henry Guell said he has begun researching a possible chicken ordinance and indicated more research is needed before the board considers action.
