Eagle River council adopts zoning definition, approves local permits and several routine requests
Summary
The council adopted Ordinance 604 adding a definition of "Excavation," approved a conditional-use permit for interpretive signs, authorized multiple event and vendor permits, accepted operator and liquor licensing actions, approved removal of a Depot urinal and other maintenance motions, and adopted a resolution urging state transportation funding.
The Eagle River Common Council on May 12 approved a number of routine local actions, including a zoning ordinance amendment, conditional-use permits, event permits, and licensing items, with motions carrying unanimously.
The council adopted Ordinance 604 to add a definition of "Excavation" to Chapter 106 (Zoning) after the Planning Commission review; the ordinance passed on a roll call vote. The council also accepted a Planning Commission recommendation to grant a conditional-use permit to the Eagle River Historical Society allowing placement of interpretive signs at the Square, Silver Lake Beach Park and Riverview Park, conditioned on coordination with Public Works.
Other approvals included a variety of street-closing and amplification permits for summer events, a Temporary Class B picnic license for the Veterans Resource Center's August event, a Class A beer/liquor successor agent assignment for Indianhead Oil Co., a direct sellers permit, and regular operator licenses. Council also approved payment of city and golf-course bills as recommended by the Finance Committee.
On facility maintenance and community projects, the council authorized Pitlik & Wick to attempt a polymer surface coating on the City Hall sidewalk with replacement allowed if coating fails, and approved converting the Depot restroom to a unisex facility by removing the problematic urinal. Council also adopted Resolution 1075 urging the Governor and Legislature to enact a comprehensive transportation funding solution.
