Marquette board reappoints treasurer, approves bills and schedules review dates

President Arthur Cybul called the Village of Marquette regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The board approved its agenda and previous meeting minutes, and accepted the treasurer’s report. Trustee Peter Michalos moved to approve the agenda and minutes; Trustee Tony Deiss seconded the motions and they passed unanimously.
The board voted to pay vouchers 1329–1360 totaling $10,714.12 plus $4,700 for maintained balance and utilities, for a grand total of $15,414.12. The board also noted a transfer of $14,500 to the general fund; that payment authorization passed unanimously.
The meeting recorded a citizen comment from Citizen Krueger asking that a ditch by his property be completed in one phase; the board agreed to place the matter on the upcoming organizational meeting agenda for further action.
The board certified the April 7 election results, noting 47 voters participated. Arthur Cybul was sworn in as village president for a two‑year term; Tony Deiss was sworn in as trustee for two years. The minutes record that this will be President Cybul’s final term.
Officials set the Open Book session with the assessor for April 30, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. by appointment, scheduled Board of Review training for May 7 at 6:30 p.m., and set the Board of Review for May 11 at 5:00 p.m. The board also approved holding its organizational meeting on April 27 at 4:30 p.m. at Village Hall.
Paula Gilbertson was reappointed treasurer to a two‑year term with an annual salary increase to $1,400; the motion carried unanimously. Clerk Susan Geraldi was reappointed to a two‑year term and her salary was increased to $10,000 annually. President Cybul recused himself from that vote; Trustees Michalos and Deiss approved the clerk appointment with one abstention recorded.
Under board reminders trustees discussed pricing for the lawn care contract and ownership questions; the treasurer reported dog license collections were current and a check had been issued to Green Lake County. Construction updates included reconfirming Center Street work, driveway aprons and cement pads with Derek Mashuda, and the board noted an LRIP advertisement for bids will be published April 16, 2026.
The board also agreed that the playset canopy will be replaced with a canvas canopy made by local Amish craftsmen. Trustees noted the pier on Lyon’s Street is delayed because of high water on Lake Puckaway.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
