Trustees hear 8–10 week timeline for solar project; elevator repairs, DPW fixes and Hoopla cap increase noted

At the Sharon Public Library board meeting on April 15, 2026, Library Director Randy Gagné briefed trustees on several building and operations items, including a planned solar-panel installation expected to require construction work over eight to ten weeks.

Randy Gagné said the project will involve two to three weeks of engineering and equipment modifications, about three weeks of mobilization for materials, and an approximate 8–10 week construction period. He told trustees the installation will require use of parking spots and that work is expected to be performed roughly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Director Gagné also noted that energy metering setup is pending coordination with a programmer and IT staff.

Trustees were informed that elevator anti-slip strips recently were reattached with strong adhesive and that the Department of Public Works addressed damage to the study-room wall. Door-opener quotes remain pending from MOCC. The director reported that the Hoopla digital-borrowing cap will increase to $1,500 effective April 26.

The board approved a separate facilities action during the meeting: Trustee Sarah Windman moved and Trustee Carolyn Weeks seconded a motion to relocate the stone benches from 11 N. Main Street to the new library at 1 School Street; the motion passed unanimously. Trustees did not record roll-call votes in the minutes beyond noting the actions passed unanimously or by consensus.

The board set its next meeting for May 27, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
