South Hill announces Ward 2 candidate, schedules interim appointment meeting and confirms special election date

Mayor Mike Moody presented Randy Crocker to the council on Feb. 10 as the sole candidate who submitted a resume by the Feb. 3 deadline to fill the Ward 2 vacancy. The General Registrar confirmed Crocker is a registered voter in Ward 2. The candidate attended the meeting and expressed interest and welcomed council questions.
The council announced a Special Meeting will be advertised and held on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. to make the interim appointment; the interim appointment will expire Dec. 31, 2025. Town staff additionally reported that the Town Attorney filed the petition required to hold a special election on Nov. 4, 2025 to fill the remainder of the term vacated when Mike Moody became mayor. Council ratified that petition by motion and unanimous vote.
