Trustees referred selection of flooring and related renovations for the Village Dining Room to the Personnel & Finance Committee for further review and bids.
Representatives from the Enrichment Council, Community Club and the American Legion presented three flooring samples and discussed options. Trustee Paul Unser said luxury vinyl tile (LVT) would allow individual tiles to be replaced if damaged; trustees discussed 20-mil versus 30-mil flooring, with Trustee Dawn Toth noting 30-mil is more durable. The groups also discussed painting, storing historical items while work is done, the potential replacement of dining room stoves and whether Village employees could remove the existing carpet or if that would require specialized equipment and outside contractors.
Separately, the board considered purchasing an airless line striping machine for Public Works and reviewed two models (battery-operated and gas-powered); trustees asked about transport and whether a trailer or use of a mower would suffice. On a related equipment question, Trustee Paul Unser moved and President Neil Boltik seconded a motion to table a paint sprayer discussion until additional questions are answered; the motion carried by voice vote.
Board members said they will obtain additional bids and hold another Personnel & Finance Committee meeting before determining the Village's financial contribution to the project.
