Representatives of local community groups and the library addressed the Elmwood board Dec. 8 about facility improvements and programming.
Linda Garfield, representing the Enrichment Council, said the group runs the Fall Craft Fair and Spring Luncheon and wants new luxury vinyl plank flooring and paint for the Village dining/meeting room. The Council provided two painting quotes and one flooring quote; Trustee Dawn Toth requested an additional flooring quote and the board tabled the item pending that additional estimate.
Amy Bechel, speaking for the Community Club, reported a successful Santa event on Dec. 6 that distributed 90 gift bags and listed upcoming events including a dinner-and-show and a euchre night.
Library Director Nick Andrews said library programming is expanding and reported plans to submit a $20,000 grant application to install automatic front and back doors. Andrews also requested a $1,200 increase for library salaries and materials and asked to be placed on the next Personnel & Finance Committee agenda to discuss that request. The Board tabled the Library back-door replacement due to winter conditions and the inability to obtain multiple bids before winter.
The board encouraged additional quotes where needed and scheduled further review of funding requests at a later Personnel & Finance meeting.
