Elmwood board approves four zoning variances, hires public works assistant

The approvals followed a Zoning Board of Appeals public hearing held Oct. 30. Jason Severson moved to approve a garage at 1025 W. Partridge Avenue (owner Tom Joyce) subject to removal of conex boxes after All-Croix’s final inspection, maintaining access to railroad power boxes, and meeting all setback requirements; Pam Marson seconded and the roll call vote carried. Paul Unser moved to approve a garage at 1226 N. Public Street (owner Brett Kitchner) contingent on meeting setback requirements and with a waiver noting potential future driveway excavation for utility access; Jason Severson seconded and the motion carried.
The board also allowed a fence at 209 S. Main Street (Tyler Larson and Laura Wood) to remain in its current location because of limited yard space, with a requirement that T-posts be replaced with proper fence posts and acknowledgement that maintenance may be required in the future; Dawn Toth moved and Pam Marson seconded the motion, which carried. A fourth request — to rebuild a fence at 306 E. Race Avenue (Nick and Belle Larson) in the same location — was approved with the owners’ agreement to paint and maintain the fence; Pam Marson moved, Neil Boltik seconded, and the motion carried.
The board convened into closed session under Wis. Stat. §19.85(1)(c) and returned to open session at 7:33 p.m. After reconvening, the board took a roll call vote to hire Nathen Nelson as Public Works Assistant; the motion carried. The minutes do not identify the mover or seconder for the hiring vote.
The board also approved the October meeting minutes and authorized payment of bills, both by roll call votes. The meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
