Fox Lake council discusses debt refinancing, prioritizes Fire Department generator and explores salt-shed options

Brian Roemer of Ehlers outlined refinancing options for municipal debt and flagged potential financial needs related to expanding construction on Cayuse Court (phase 2). Council members discussed the options but took no formal vote on refinancing during this meeting.
City Administrator Kelly Crombie updated the council on the municipal generator plan, saying Alliant Energy informed staff that the original plan—to use one generator to serve both the Fire Department and City Hall—would not work because the two facilities are on separate services. The council concluded it is more important to proceed now with a generator for the Fire Department and defer addressing City Hall’s generator needs to a later date.
Administrator Crombie also told the council there is currently no formal agreement for the salt shed and that the city rents space in the Town of Fox Lake salt shed. The council discussed negotiating an agreement for that space and exploring the long-term viability of constructing a city-owned salt shed.
