Barb Schmidtknecht elected Fountain City council president

By ballot vote at the April 15 reorganizational meeting, Fountain City councilors elected Barb Schmidtknecht as council president and assigned committee seats to new member Scott Feraro.
At its April 15, 2025 reorganizational meeting, the Fountain City Common Council elected Barb Schmidtknecht as council president by ballot vote, Mayor Ben Adank announced. The council also assigned new member Scott Feraro to replace former council member Ryan Ligman on three standing committees.
The election came after the council approved the minutes of the April 9 meeting by a motion moved by Barb Schmidtknecht and seconded by Christine Williamson. The ballot then produced a majority for Barb Schmidtknecht, who will serve as council president for the coming term, the minutes show.
The council recorded assignments for Scott Feraro to the Board of Review; the Park-Rec, Tourism, City Property and Cemetery committee; and the Planning, Zoning and Economic Development committee, replacing Ryan Ligman. The minutes note Stephen Qualy as absent at the meeting.
The meeting record does not include vote tallies for the ballot or the appointments. The council adjourned at 7:00 PM.
