At the Oct. 16 regular meeting, the Ogdensburg Mayor and Council reviewed several administrative and operational items including draft sealed-bid specifications for a full roof replacement at Borough Hall, options for removing an exterior light pole and upgrading building-mounted lighting, and water/DPW equipment disposition through GovDeals.
Councilman Salvatore Nasisi presented a draft scope for a full roof replacement, describing removal of existing shingles, ice-and-water shield installation and potential additional costs related to the Yankee gutter system. The council discussed an appropriate advertising/response period for bids; Mr. McBriar said he would confirm timing with the borough clerk and CFO.
CFO Mike Marceau reviewed the municipal best-practices worksheet used for state aid certification: the worksheet contained 84 questions, 53 of which are scoreable; Ogdensburg scored 39.5 points where 30 points are needed for full State aid. Mr. Marceau flagged specific checklist items including financial-disclosure forms, a social-media policy, and data-backup practices and recommended follow-up to correct outstanding items.
Mr. McBriar reported two pending tax appeals in the Tax Court involving commercial property and recommended obtaining appraisal quotes to seek earlier resolution. Councilwoman O'Dell asked to circulate a First Aid Squad recruitment flyer with an upcoming mailer, and Councilman Nasisi said he will inventory borough-owned buildings and clarify maintenance responsibilities.
The council opened a public comment period; no members of the public spoke. Members then entered executive session to discuss police contract negotiations and later returned to approve voucher payments and departmental reports by roll call. The meeting adjourned at 8:22 p.m.
