The Mayor and Council of the Borough of Ogdensburg approved a multi-item consent agenda at their Nov. 12 meeting that authorized public bidding for a municipal building roof, a shared‑services animal control contract with Wantage Township, the insertion of a $3,493 Municipal Alliance revenue line into the 2019 budget, and a professional appraisal contract related to tax appeals.
Why it matters: the actions move several procurement and budget items toward implementation — the roof project is cleared to be advertised for sealed bids and the animal-control arrangement sets a fixed 2020 payment to Wantage, matters that affect the borough’s near-term contracting and operating costs.
Councilman M. Nardini moved (noting he would abstain from consent item #1) and Councilwoman O’Dell seconded approval of the consent agenda. The motion passed on roll call with Yeas: Nardini (abstaining on item #1), Nasisi, O’Dell and Slater; no nays; Alvarez absent. The consent list included: approval of Oct. 28 minutes; Resolution 84‑2019 (budget insertion of $3,493 for Municipal Alliance on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse); Resolution 86‑2019 (a 2020 shared services agreement with the Township of Wantage for animal control at an annual payment of $13,073); Resolution 87‑2019 (approval of bid specifications prepared by municipal engineer Michael Vreeland for replacement of the municipal building shingle roof and authorization to advertise for sealed bids with a bid opening currently scheduled for Dec. 4, 2019); and Resolution 88‑2019 (approval of a professional appraisal services agreement with Darren Raymond of Associated Appraisal Group for two commercial tax assessment matters).
Borough Clerk Robin Hough confirmed the newspaper notice had been sent and that Van Cleef Engineering would deliver bid packages; Mayor George P. Hutnick said the roof procurement was "in motion." The appraisal services resolution notes the contract is exempt from competitive bidding under the Local Public Contracts Law’s professional services exemption and that the chief financial officer certified available funds.
What remains: bid submissions for the roof project and final execution of the Wantage shared‑services agreement and appraisal contract. The council recorded and approved the consent agenda by roll call vote.
