The Buckingham County School Board voted unanimously to approve the division’s 2026‑27 annual special education plan and submit it to the Virginia Department of Education.
Jennifer Grazier, director of special education (S11), told the board the plan is based on the December 1 child count and staff estimates. "This plan is based on information that I had to submit to the Virginia Department of Education through the December 1 child count," she said, describing personnel line items (6‑11) and preschool (6‑19) allocations and noting that the figures are estimates pending formal VDOE review.
Board members asked about proportionate set‑asides for personnel and whether line items are separated in the application; staff explained the spreadsheet contains tabs breaking down each category. After questions and clarifications about allowable reporting and state reporting mechanisms, a motion to approve the plan was made and the board voted unanimously to adopt it.
