Fennimore council approves police vehicle, infrastructure bids and youth apprentice pay

The council approved a police vehicle purchase of $44,073.50 from Fillback Family of Dealerships after Police Chief Dresen presented bid options that included hybrid models (motion by Alder Roth, second by Alder Kretschman; vote 7-0). The council also approved a $13,109 bid from Action Battery for a battery bank at the diesel plant (motion by Adam, second by Streif; vote 7-0) and awarded a $10,500 light-pole painting contract to Pole Painting Plus pending verification of prior work (motion by Adam, second by Roth; vote 7-0). Council members approved using $19,000 in proceeds from the sale of the lot at Madison and 16th St toward sealcoating of city streets (motion by Adam, second by Roth; vote 7-0).
Other routine approvals included a swimming pool use agreement (motion by Streif, second by Strack; vote 7-0), an operators license for Ashley Valentine, and the council’s certification of claims totaling $466,626.66 and payroll certifications for the periods of Feb. 20 and March 6, 2026 (motions and roll-call votes recorded in the minutes). The council also moved its April regular meeting from April 20 to April 21 to align with the Organization meeting (motion by Streif, second by Adam; vote 7-0).
Council moved into a closed session at 6:27 p.m. to discuss hiring and pay for a Youth Apprentice and returned to open session at 6:34 p.m., then approved Youth Apprentice wages of $16 per hour (motion by Roth, second by Kretschman; vote 7-0). Mayor Ryan Boebel acknowledged this would be his final full council meeting; he said he would call the Organizational Meeting and the new mayor would be sworn in at that time.
