Trustees asked that the contract explicitly list duties (before school arrival, during school, after school, and coverage for extracurricular events) and include details on compensation for additional duties such as ballgame coverage.
Dr. Atkinson reviewed recent safety investments: the district previously installed body-scan units at East and West high schools and plans to expand to middle schools and elementary schools if safety-funding allocations allow. Trustees discussed vestibule modifications at older schools to match safety features in new construction and the need to spell out responsibilities and costs in contracts and agreements.
Board members asked staff to ensure the SRO contract specifies duties, hours and event coverage and to return a contract and update to the board at the next meeting.
