Afton utility board approves recommendation to raise sewer rate to $12 per month

At the Dec. 13 Town Council meeting Director of Public Utilities Larry Lancaster presented minutes from the Afton Utility Board, which approved increasing the monthly sewer rate to $12.00. Lancaster said the extra revenue would be placed in a reserve account to cover future costs and repairs to sewer lines, and that the matter will continue to be reviewed with public notice before further action by the Town Council.
Lancaster also cautioned residents that exposed water lines might freeze in the cold weather and urged precautions to prevent damage.
