"Parents must give advanced permission before any retesting is done," the superintendent explained as part of the overview. The district plans to inform parents early so consent is obtained well before the spring testing window.
Staff also said choosing the EOG for the 3rd‑grade retest allows the district to capture both proficiency and growth measures, which the alternate "read to achieve" assessment does not. The board approved the motion to proceed with parental outreach and to designate the EOG as the district's 3rd‑grade retest option; the measure passed by voice vote.
