Group offers picnic tables and improvements for Heather Pond; council welcomes proposal

Greg Hetman, representing Friend of Heather Pond, described plans to continue supporting the pond in 2020 by bringing awareness, events and potential improvements, and proposed donating two picnic tables to be installed near the pond. He said the group would work with local sponsors and businesses to fund and place the tables.
Mayor Hutnick said he had no objection to the donation. Councilman Nasisi said he had spoken with Land Use Board Chairman Armstrong and was told no additional land-use review appeared necessary for the proposed improvements; members noted that any sponsors’ changes should respect the Memorial area, which is off-limits.
No formal action was taken at the meeting; the council welcomed the proposal and directed staff to coordinate as needed with the group and with the Land Use Board where appropriate.
