Mountainview Medical Center’s Board of Directors heard reports on staffing shortfalls and infectious-disease preparedness at its April 23 meeting.
Rob Brandt, the hospital’s CEO, reported for the director of nursing that “2 RN and 2 CNA positions are open,” and said the trauma designation review is scheduled for June. He told the board the center’s quality program is being recognized with an award from Yellowstone and that changes to pharmacy metrics are already showing improvement. Brandt also noted that a Board of Pharmacy inspection took place that day and found no issues.
Dr. Stenseth, reporting for the medical staff, said swing-bed patient numbers were strong last month and that clinicians are planning for possible measles activity. He said staff discussed the percentage of non-vaccinated people in the community, noted “5 cases reported in Gallatin County,” and said current vaccines are roughly “97% effective.”
The updates highlighted two related pressures for the hospital: clinical staffing vacancies and the need for preparedness planning if measles activity increases. Board members asked for routine updates; Brandt said ongoing operational and quality reports would be included in board materials going forward.
The board also handled one personnel motion: the medical staff reappointment of Jessica Simmons, CRNA, was moved by Chris Schlepp and seconded by Tanya Hill and approved by the board.
