Parks Advisory Committee defers final action after line-by-line review of Parks Master Plan draft

White Sulphur Springs — The Parks Advisory Committee reviewed the May 12, 2025 working draft of the city Parks Master Plan and chose to defer formal action until members can review an updated draft.
City Council Liaison Pattie Berg opened the content review and called on consultant Kevin Angland of Great West Engineering, who said most previously requested changes had been incorporated into the working draft. Committee members then conducted a page-by-page review and directed Angland to record additional edits and prepare a revised draft.
During the review the committee compared input received at the May 13 open house with prior community-survey and Community Expo feedback and determined that, with a few exceptions, the public comments aligned with earlier outreach. After making additional content changes during the meeting, the committee declined to adopt the working draft and postponed action until the next update is circulated for review.
The committee approved the minutes of its April 8 meeting earlier in the session; the approval was moved by Chair Tressa Blair and seconded by Jordan Kibbee.
Why it matters: The Parks Master Plan will guide capital projects, maintenance priorities and grant applications for city parks, so the committee’s content changes and the consultant’s revisions will shape what projects move forward and how they are funded.
The committee is scheduled to reconvene June 6, 2025, to consider the updated working draft and any additional public input.
