At its May 20 meeting the Stuart Town Council recorded the following formal actions and motions.
• Approval of the meeting agenda: Motion by Councilor Bob Pittis, seconded by Councilor Rebecca Adcock; approved by council members present.
• Approval of April 15, 2026 minutes: Motion by Vice‑Mayor David Hoback, seconded by Councilor Bob Pittis; approved by council members present.
• Library sponsorship: Motion by Councilor Bob Pittis, seconded by Vice‑Mayor David Hoback, to contribute $1,000 to the Blue Ridge Regional Library "Splash and Read" program. Vote: three yes, one abstention (Councilor Rebecca Adcock abstained due to service on the library board).
• FY2027 Proposed Budget: Motion by Councilor Bob Pittis, seconded by Councilor Rebecca Adcock, to approve the FY2027 Proposed Budget for advertisement and schedule a public hearing for June 17, 2026; motion passed by council members present.
• Ordinances (BPOL, Meals Tax, Mobile Food Vendors): The council agreed by consensus to table the restated BPOL, Meals Tax, and the Mobile Food Vendor ordinances pending further refinement by staff and the Town Attorney.
• Banners for Heroes program: Motion to approve and implement the Hometown Hero Banner Program; motion passed unanimously by council members present.
• Approval of bills: Motion by Councilor Bob Pittis, seconded by Councilor Rebecca Adcock, to approve payment of bills (including a $79,705 payment to Stuart Backwash & Sewer Outfall that will be reimbursed); motion passed by council members present.
• Adjournment: Motion by Councilor Rebecca Adcock, seconded by Councilor Bob Pittis; motion passed.
