Stuart council approves bills, minutes and agenda; treasurer reports utility disconnects prompting payments

The Stuart Town Council on Feb. 18 approved routine procedural items including the meeting agenda and the Jan. 21, 2026 minutes. Councilor Rebecca Adcock moved to approve the agenda and Councilor Jeffery Houchins seconded; Councilor Bob Pittis moved to approve the minutes and Houchins seconded; both motions passed unanimously.
Council reviewed the bills and noted a large legal invoice that included back-billing for services rendered in 2021. Councilor Jeffery Houchins moved to approve payment of bills; Councilor Bob Pittis seconded and the motion was approved unanimously.
Clerk/Treasurer Misty Raines reported that utility disconnect notices mailed today have prompted many delinquent accounts to pay immediately. She also said delinquent real estate tax letters are being drafted and mailed.
