After closed session, Stuart council requires employees pursuing CDLs to report if not certified by next meeting

The Town Council convened an executive session on Feb. 18 under Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Code of Virginia to discuss specific personnel matters. The motions to enter and exit executive session were both made and approved unanimously in open session.
After reconvening, Councilor Jeffery Houchins moved — and Councilor Bob Pittis seconded — a motion that directed if the two employees pursuing Commercial Driver's Licenses have not obtained certification by the next meeting, they must appear before the council to explain the reasons they were unable to obtain the license. The motion passed unanimously.
The council did not disclose personnel details in open session beyond the directive requiring employee follow-up at the subsequent meeting.
