Stuart Fire Department reports 325 calls in 2025, flags aging brush truck for replacement

The Stuart Fire Department responded to 325 calls in 2025, Assistant Fire Chief Austin Bryant reported at the Town Council meeting on Jan. 21, 2026. The incidents included 249 fire calls, 49 motor vehicle accidents and 76 emergency medical responses; 177 of the calls occurred inside Stuart town limits and 148 occurred outside.
Bryant said the department recently placed a new engine in service and installed a new air compressor used for filling self‑contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) tanks. He flagged the 2006 Brush Truck as showing “significant rust” and described it as a priority for replacement. Bryant also said Engine 2613 is due for refurbishment. The department is exploring forestry grant opportunities to help fund equipment purchases.
Councilors did not take formal action on procurement at the meeting; Bryant’s presentation served as the department’s annual report and an acknowledgement of capital and maintenance needs going into 2026.
