The Shopping Area Redevelopment Board unanimously approved a storefront façade renovation for 140 E Main on May 14 after recusing Board Member Dick from the decision.
Dick provided the project overview, describing new wood-framed storefront walls, full glass windows, wood doors with sidelights and a transom, cultured stone above the lower window, clear cedar stained exterior around doors and windows, columns at each end, and a 19-foot-by-3'6" aluminum awning painted black. Members raised concerns the proposed awning resembled a pergola and could allow rain or snow to drip through.
Because Board Member Dick is directly involved with the project, Barnes moved and VanHoven supported a motion to recuse Dick from the vote; the motion carried with all voting aye. After recusal, Barnes moved and Gentry supported approval of the façade as presented; the remaining members voted to approve and the motion carried.
The board did not attach additional conditions to the approval in the meeting minutes. The project will proceed as presented unless further administrative or permitting steps identify required adjustments.
