Planning commission reviews draft demographics chapter of Master Plan, requests local housing data

The Zeeland Planning Commission received a brief presentation on the draft demographics chapter of the Master Plan on June 4 and requested additional local housing information be incorporated into future drafts.
Tanya DeOliveira of Williams & Works reviewed the chapter and answered commissioners’ questions. Zoning Administrator Timothy Maday said he would work with DeOliveira to provide additional context and local housing data that were not included in the current draft. Commissioner Daniel Klompmaker suggested the commission begin conversations about expanding bicycle infrastructure, and commissioners expressed support for including related analysis in future chapters.
Staff and the consultant are scheduled to meet with the School Age Recreation Board (SARB) liaison Abby DeRoo to provide more local context to the consultant. The item will return for further review at a future meeting, with the next regular Planning Commission meeting set for July 9, 2026.
