Weston County trustees approve 2025–26 five-day calendar with early Friday dismissals

Superintendent LaCroix recommended the calendar during the Board's Feb. 12 meeting and described it as the district's preferred option for next year. After a lengthy discussion, Trustee Billy Fitzwater moved to adopt the calendar and Trustee Dana Gordon seconded; the motion carried with six trustees in favor and three opposed.
Chairman Dana Mann-Tavegia, Trustee Jason Jenkins and Trustee Susan Pillen voted against the motion. Trustees voting in favor were Joe Prell, Tyler Mills, Dana Gordon, Paul Bau, Billy Fitzwater and Sean Crabtree.
Board materials note the calendar includes early Friday dismissals and the superintendent's recommendation allows some Friday afternoons to be used flexibly for staff needs. No changes to instructional days or state-required minimums were specified in the record.
The calendar vote followed other routine business on the agenda, including approval of minutes, warrants and personnel items. The Board did not adopt any amendments to the calendar motion during the meeting. The district will publish details of start/end times and early-dismissal schedules once administrative staff finalizes logistics.
