Hobart City Redevelopment Authority affirms fill-permit decision, approves tree removal and bond change

The Hobart City Redevelopment Authority on a unanimous voice vote affirmed a Plan Commission decision granting a fill permit under petition number 2601 and approved several routine development and maintenance requests.
Chair (S1) said the authority had “considered all of the evidence presented both in writing and on the record and the written findings from the previous meetings” and moved “to affirm the decision of the plan petition granting the fill permit under petition number 2601.” A second was offered and the motion carried with affirmative voice votes.
Staff member (S2) told the authority the body may affirm, modify or reverse the Plan Commission's decision and that each person who filed an appeal would receive written notice of the authority's decision. The chair cited the written findings and minutes from the earlier plan-commission proceedings as part of the record.
On a separate, consent-type item the authority granted a request to remove a locust tree in an easement at 7798 Tanager Street. A property representative (S3) said the owners had consulted an arborist, planned to pay removal costs and would likely plant a replacement. “They're gonna take it down on their dime,” S3 said. Chair (S1) moved to approve the removal at the owners' expense; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The authority also approved a refund of building-permit number 2657 (applicant name read into the record) and voted to release a performance bond for Lumen's Logistics, contingent on the developer securing a maintenance bond; staff (Alex) had reviewed the request and recommended the change.
Staff member (S4) provided an update on an unsafe-building order at 300 West Old Bridge Road, saying the property owner had submitted paperwork for a planning-commission public hearing on a one-lot subdivision and intends to demolish the structure if the subdivision is approved. The authority voted to set the unsafe-building matter over to the April 15 meeting for further action.
The meeting concluded after the authority approved those items and adjourned by voice vote.
