The Northmoor Board of Aldermen met Jan. 14 at City Hall and adopted Ordinance 202-001, authorizing a general election to elect the mayor for a two-year term, two Aldermen A for two-year terms and one Alderman for a one-year term.
Mayor Wilson presided over the meeting. The board unanimously approved the Dec. 3, 2024 meeting minutes and the treasurer's report for December 2024. Alderman Joe Harris moved both approvals; Alderman Janeen Wright and Alderman Robin Griffith seconded motions as recorded; each vote was 3-0 in favor.
The board also approved several administrative items. Members voted to purchase a company cell phone for Mayor Wilson, with the packet listing a Samsung Galaxy for $212 (tax notation in the packet was unclear). The board approved hiring Travis Bailey with Xylem/DBA-WACHS to assist with water shut-off valve and hydrant pressure issues after reviewing a packet report summarizing a prior meeting involving the mayor, Northmoor utilities manager Galen Markley and representatives from Xylem and the Missouri Rural Water Association. The meetings and recommendations were included in the board packet.
Other approved items included publishing the Semi-Annual Statement of Conditions in the Landmark and a directive that all city property (files and computer equipment) be returned to City Hall so materials are available when needed. Alderman Janeen Wright suggested offering extended City Hall hours one evening to help working residents; board members indicated support.
Mayor Wilson provided an update about the city's new trash service, Red Gate, and distributed the holiday pickup schedule. The board noted several local business updates in the city news section: KCBurger Joint began opening at 7 a.m., World Liquors plans to open at 7 a.m., Taqueria Mexico expressed interest in earlier hours, and Riverside Survivor Supply has rebranded as "Two Crows," prompting a reminder that a new business license is required.
The meeting concluded after the board voted 3-0 to adjourn.
