Governor Wentworth board approves lunch-price increase, ratifies hires and signs off on administrative authorities

The Governor Wentworth Regional School Board on Aug. 4 approved adjustments to student lunch prices, ratified several staff hires, accepted a five-year tuition agreement with the Freedom School District, and authorized administrators to sign grant assurances and to suspend students under RSA 193:13-I(b).
Business Administrator Kathy O’Blenes told the Board that a federal mandate required changes to food service pricing; the Board approved $3.75 for elementary lunches and $4.00 for middle and high school lunches for the 2025–26 school year. The motion passed by voice vote. The Board also approved a proposed five-year Tuition Agreement with the Freedom School District, with members noting the agreement’s stability and that it can be amended if needed.
In personnel actions, the Board ratified the Superintendent’s hires: Brandon Balser (100% teacher, $64,601, Track 1/Step 10), Caitlin Gibbons (100% teacher, $49,921, Track 1/Step 3), Autumn Gaska (Preschool Teacher/Interventionist, $47,543, Track 1/Step 1), Freedom Mussari (100% teacher, $82,589, Track 3/Step 13), and Donna Egan (100% teacher, $94,986, Track 4/Step 14). Those ratifications followed a non-public personnel discussion convened under RSA 91-A:3, II(b).
The Board also authorized the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Business Administrator and/or the Curriculum Director to sign assurances for grants and trust-fund requests, and authorized the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to suspend students for up to ten days and to continue suspensions beyond ten school days as allowed by statute. The Board approved accounts payable ($5,809,216.26) and payroll ($6,988,393.97) manifests totaling $12,797,610.23.
Forms related to the authorizations were distributed for signature following the meeting.
