Epping approves transfer‑station holiday closures, agrees to apply for Clean Diesel ambulance grant

The Epping Board of Selectmen on April 13 approved closing the Transfer Station on July 4 and Veterans Day (Nov. 11) and agreed to apply for an NH Clean Diesel Grant to assist in replacing a 2006 ambulance.
Town Administrator Jake T. Roger requested the transfer station holiday closures and said the Fire Department is seeking a replacement ambulance. "If the $100,000.00 grant is awarded to the town, the town would pay $40,000 for a brand-new truck ambulance," Roger said. The board voted to approve the transfer station closures (motion by Chairman Pamela Tibbetts, seconded by Selectman Tom Gauthier) and agreed to apply for the Clean Diesel grant.
Roger also said the town is exploring AI phone services to route resident inquiries (replacing a department list with a conversational prompt) and noted he has a spare iPad for use by a board member. No final procurement decisions on AI services were made at the meeting.
Next steps: staff will submit the Clean Diesel grant application and return to the board with outcomes or further procurement recommendations.
