Cemetery trustees propose expansion onto Town land; Planning Board hearing set

Cemetery Trustees have proposed expanding Greenland’s cemetery onto Town-owned land behind the Transfer Station, the Board of Selectmen heard April 6.
Town Administrator Tara Tucker told the Board the proposal, submitted April 2 by Fred Dobler on behalf of the Cemetery Trustees, would require the Planning Board to be notified under RSA 674:54 within 60 days of the proposed start date for construction. Engineering and test pits are being conducted by Severino; costs for the project will be covered by the Cemetery Trustees Capital Reserve Fund and donated materials from Severino.
Design plans described to the Board include green space, landscaping, a walkway, a columbarium and mausoleum, and a section dedicated to veterans. The proposal will be presented to the Planning Board on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the required public hearing; Board members were invited to attend that meeting.
No final approvals or construction dates were decided by the Board of Selectmen at the April 6 meeting.
