Turtle Lake awards street-reconstruction contract to Keller Paving and Landscaping

The Turtle Lake City Commission voted April 13 to award the city’s street-reconstruction contract to Keller Paving and Landscaping following an engineer’s recommendation.

Moore Engineering provided commissioners with a written engineer’s report and bid tabulations showing six bids for the project that ranged from $3.25 million to $4.99 million. The engineer’s packet included a preliminary engineer’s statement of cost and a recommendation to award to Keller Paving and Landscaping.

Commissioner Rick Schwalk moved to award the bid to Keller Paving and Landscaping; Commissioner Tim Britton seconded. Roll-call votes recorded Commissioners Stacie Adams, Tim Britton, Rick Schwalk and Matt Lang voting yes and the motion passed. The minutes record the vote outcome as “Motion passed.”

City staff noted that an engineering amendment for construction services will be presented to the city in May and that staff will work with the contractor to finalize a construction schedule and set up a preconstruction meeting before work begins.

The commission reviewed the city’s March check register during the meeting. The register lists two payments to Moore Engineering in the March accounting period ($107,967.50 and $5,940.00), along with other vendor payments; the register was approved earlier in the meeting.

Next steps recorded in the minutes: staff will bring the construction-services amendment to the commission in May and coordinate the contractor’s schedule and a preconstruction meeting.
