The Velva City Commission scheduled a city-wide cleanup week for June 9–15, 2025, at its March 17 meeting and said collection will operate as it did the prior year with 10-hour-per-day dumping after obtaining a key from the city office. Commission President Mike Schreiner said employees will attempt to add night and weekend shifts if schedules allow.
The meeting record also shows the appliance dump has been extended and collections continue at the drop-off location; Schreiner said he retains a key for after-hours dumping.
Separately, the Sales Tax Committee tabled a request from All Star Sheds pending clarification on distribution guidelines. No action was taken on the request at the March 17 meeting.
Public Works Department representative Schad Prellwitz reported the old truck has been made operational and requested a broom attachment for the front of the skidsteer; he also mentioned adding a toolcat purchase to the 2026 budget for consideration.
The commission adjourned at 7:34 p.m.; the next regular meeting is April 21 at 7:00 p.m.
