At its April 21 meeting the Velva City Commission approved routine administrative actions, confirmed audit compliance for prior years, appointed a seasonal employee and scheduled the city-wide cleanup week.
The Commission approved the minutes from the March 17 regular meeting and the April 8 and 9 special meetings on a Keller/Davis motion (roll call: unanimous). Davis and Jenson moved to approve bills to be paid ($36,212.85) and payroll ($39,754.80); the motion passed on a roll call vote (all aye). Auditor Jenny Johns presented final state audit reports for 2020–2022 and said that clearing those audits brings the city into compliance and enables the city to borrow for failing infrastructure if needed.
The Commission appointed K. Prellwitz to a seasonal employee position at the budgeted wage on a Jenson/Davis motion (roll call: all aye). The minutes list "Schad Prellwitz" earlier in the roll call as Public Works staff and record the appointment under the name "K. Prellwitz." The Commission also scheduled city-wide cleanup week for June 9–15 with the same 10-hour/day dumping process used the prior year.
All administrative motions recorded in the minutes passed by roll call. The minutes do not list payroll vendor details beyond the bill list or the hourly wage for the seasonal appointment.
